A Novel GroupAll group members read and discuss the same book each month. As the month’s book is selected by a single member (not committee) we get a wide variety of books: mostly novels, but also memoirs and non-fiction.
Each month a member serves as book facilitator, who chooses the book and leads the discussion. We rotate through the group, so each member will serve as facilitator roughly once a year. Each month a member serves as the host, who provides their home for meeting plus light snacks or dessert. Each month we RSVP via an Evite, com reminder, in part so the host knows how many to plan for. In March we may move the meeting up one week to avoid Purdue’s Spring Break, but otherwise we meet the 2nd Wednesday at 7 p.m. We do not meet in July as many members are out of town. Here is what we read for 2023-24 as a sample: Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty by Patrick Radden Keefe The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid The Measure by Nikki Erlick The Maid by Nita Prose I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith This Other Eden by Paul Harding Night Road by Kristin Hannah The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store, by James McBride All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me by Patrick Bringley |
