Welcome to all Purdue Women’s Club members and Friends!
We celebrate our 103rd year of being an organization serving both our community and continuing our mission to provide financial assistance for non-traditional students through the SPAN plan. Our recent silent auction brought in $4000 to add to our gifts allowing us to provide over $8000 in financial assistance to the SPAN plan. Melinda Bain led this effort but was aided by Gail Fusaro, Sara Harlan, Judy Harshman, Patty Jischke, Sheri Johnson, Jacky Ralph and Corby Springer. I am honored to serve as your President 2025-2026. I feel able to perform these duties because of the tremendous support that is provided by the many leaders already serving PWC in our variety of Interest Groups, as well as board members. We have added new groups because of great demand and due to the interests of our members. Each year the new president designates a theme for their leadership year and my theme is “Connecting Through Shared Interests”. I believe interests create an easy path to meeting new people and sharing meaningful time together. Our predecessors had a vision for a way to provide opportunities for our members to build friendships and to learn new things. The strengths of women have been helped through their social engagements. One might think of this as “social currency”, a way of finding ways to use community to improve the lives of all by working together. This is an old way of living that is needed today. As new people move here, we can offer them a way to join our organization and help them find their niche in the community through our Newcomers Group and 30+ interest groups. We all benefit from this as we find a purpose and give our talents to the community. I am quite humbled that I was asked to serve an organization of over 500 members. I look forward to finding new ways to provide opportunities for our members and be fiscally responsible.
