Purpose: To learn about and practice meditation and encourage individual practice
Meditation is a proven way to relax, encourage positive emotions and engage in mindful behavior. Benefits of regular meditation include lower stress and negative emotions, and better concentration and relationships. Each session consists of: 1) individual quiet time/stretching to relax/ focus attention in preparation for meditation; 2) the meditation; 3) silent period of journaling using questions that help you explore your thoughts, create intentions to guide your actions, and create a gratitude practice, which turns negativity into positive attitude. The meditation is guided by Deepak Chopra using one of his multi-disc meditation experiences. Bring a pad and pen for journaling. This is not, per se, a social group though occasionally we stay after meditation to have coffee and visit.
