"Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times"
Monday, November 21, 2016
7:30 am --- 6:30 pm
Plan on joining this road trip to the South Bend History Museum. This international exhibit features 36 costumes worn during the first 4 seasons of this PBS program, Downton Abbey. Dressing Downton chronicles the great changes taking place in Britain during the tumultuous early 20th century. Each vignette is accompanied by images that show the costumes as they appeared on the actors during the TV show.
Lunch will be at the East Bank Emporium Restaurant in South Bend. It is located on the bank of the St. Joseph River and features traditional American cuisine. We will order from their extensive menu and each person will receive their own check.
After lunch, we'll return to the museum campus for a docent-led tour of Copshaholm, the 38 room mansion of the Oliver Family. It's contents are original, just as the family left it (no reproductions)! At the conclusion of this tour, there will be time to visit other History Museum exhibits or the Studebaker Museum.
Museum admission will be $15-$20/person (depending on the total number traveling to the exhibit). Other costs will be lunch and reimbursement to your driver. Your total costs for this art trip will be approximately $40-45. ($20 must be prepaid for the special exhibit).
